How the sod estimate works

Sod is sold as small rolls or by the pallet. A common roll covers about 10 square feet, and a pallet about 450 square feet, or roughly 42 square metres, though sizes vary by supplier. Add about 5 percent for trimming around curves and edges. Order it to arrive the day you lay it, since sod does not store well.

Prepping the soil? A wide landscape rake levels and grades the bed before sod goes down.
